Obsession

As an artist, I go through periods where I’m obsessed with a certain subject or image and I paint it over and over again. A few weeks ago, my obsession was The Boy's mouth.

People tend to assume, at first, that these lips belong to a woman. I find this fascinating: if makeup and an overtly sexy expression are all it takes for a male to be read as female, the line between the sexes must be a lot thinner than we’re taught to believe. I’m okay with that. :)
